Qcide™
Qcide™ is a natural oil product containing tasmanone as the active constituent. The oil is extracted from the leaves of a rare cultivar of an Australian eucalypt, the Gympie Messmate (Eucalyptus cloeziana), by utilising a steam distillation process and is currently being grown in plantation farming systems by sub-contractors to Bio-Gene in Far Northern Queensland.
On-going Research and Development
In order to develop Qcide Bio-Gene is currently engaged in a range of research collaborations involving some of Australia’s leading academic and research institutions. These ongoing collaborations provide Bio-Gene with access to leading plant scientists, chemists and engineering expertise. Bio-Gene is committed to a program of continuous process improvements that seek to utilise these resources to deliver significant advancements in areas relating to tree improvement, plant propagation, chemistry analysis and oil extraction procedures. This ensures that Bio-Gene can continue to apply the highest world standards to further develop Qcide and deliver a natural product capable of meeting the stringent demands of various market sectors where a natural product is preferred.
Qcide development is focused on natural insect control and shows potential in a range of applications including as a replacement for and/or in combination with existing insecticides in consumer products applications and organic agriculture.
